Where Quality Comes First...
Jan. 22nd, 2005 03:03 amHere at work, we were SWAMPED today. Why? A certain four-letter S-word.
That's right, SNOW.
CBS is predicting 6 - 8 inches. ABC is predicting 8 - 12 inches. NBC is predicting 8 - 14 inches.
Naturally, the snow sent people into a panic to buy their groceries now. So I got to deal with many morons today.
I had one person buy two candy bars as two separate orders. Why? So she could pay for each of them with a $100 bill. Not a good way to make friends with your cashier.
A second lady had two containers of Enfamil formula, and two coupons - one for $2.50 off one (these are $12.99 containers) and one for buy one, get one free. And she gripes because I wouldn't let her use both coupons. You see, you're only allowed one coupon per item and the BOGO coupon counts for both items.
Another one griped and complained because I wouldn't take her coupon off at face value for $1.00 off on SuperPretzels. She bought one box - at 99 cents - and fought over the penny difference.
I had one refuse to give me their Price Plus card for the order until after I was done scanning the free item coupons. Her theory was that I would take the coupon off at full value, and then use the card to get discount - and money she did not earn. Nope, sorry, doesn't work that way.
But the story that takes the cake is the person who tried to butt in and have an order suspended so that she could dart through quickly and buy a snow shovel. While you might need the shovel, you also need some patience to wait in line until it's your turn to purchase the shovel.
