From where quality comes first...

Will you make me some magic, with your own two hands? Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?

At my store this week, we have a sale on Canada Dry products, at 79¢ a bottle. Now in our area, Canada Dry includes 7up, A&W, Pennsylvania Dutch, and Sunkist. It does not include Dr Pepper. Naturally, the following exchange happens.

Customer: *brings up four 2-liter bottles of Dr Pepper*
Me: *rings* Okay, that'll be $4.62...
Customer: Wait a second, those should be 79¢ each!
Me: *looks at ad* Actually ma'am, Coke products are on sale for $1.09 each. *points to where it says that in the ad*
Customer: But Dr Pepper and 7up are the same company! If you sell 7up for 79¢ a bottle, you HAVE to sell Dr Pepper for 79¢!
Me: Ma'am, Dr Pepper/7up does not distribute in this area -- Dr Pepper falls under Coke, and 7up falls under Canada Dry.
Customer: Well, take them off, I don't want any of them.

Um, okay... I thought it was obvious when we keep Dr Pepper with the COKE products.

Underneath a big clock at the corner of 5th Avenue and 22nd Street, I stood and waited for a girl I knew at the spot where we agreed to meet...

I was near the end of my shift, and I had turned off my light to count down and go home, when a customer rushes up and starts unloading her belt. Before she puts anything up, I say...

Me: Ma'am, I'm sorry, but this lane is closed.
Customer: Bulls___! I'm in too much of a hurry to wait in a line!
Me: Ma'am, if I were to let you come through while my light is off, then I couldn't reasonably deny anyone else.
Customer: You're just doing this because I'm a n_____, aren't you! RACISM! CALL THE NAACP!
Me: Let me page my manager. *pages* Jean, please come to register seven for a Code Eyedeetentee?
Customer: *leaves her cart right in the aisle, and leaves* Oh, forget it, I'm gonna be late.

If you're going to be late, please don't try to force us to accomodate you.

And thank you for shopping at a place "where quality comes first".
